Removed the rear licence plate holder and installed a side mounted one instead. Now the bike throws up dirt all the time, hitting me if i drive slowly on wet surfaces or sand..

anyone have a solution to this? that looks good as well?

 

Put the plate back where it came from?! I never did like the chopped fender look, so if I bought that model I would replace it with a long one. Full length Harley fenders are the shape they are for a darned good reason, as you are finding out!

 

The plate holder/rear fender extension you removed was what kept the rain/dirt from rooster tailing up on your back. Either put it back, or deal with it. Anything that will function the way you want is probably not going to meet your aesthetic goals since the way to stop the rooster tail is to put something that extends far enough out/over to catch it.

 

I do not like the side license plates. Some times its more than looking good.

 

Wet/ dirty back goes with chopped fenders. That what fenders and overhangs are there for.

We learned that as kids, before we became teenagers!

 

I cut the fender of my bobber( hence the name) once I cut the fender water, dirt , anything the tire could pick up ended up on my back or in my lap.

 

It's really funny you bring this up. US spec roadsters come with the side mount plates and i hate it. I ordered all the HDI parts to go to the look you got rid of.

Curently ​​​​​back in scotland and just npticed the hdi turn signals are different and i want them too.

Harley guys at home in kansas think i'm crazy for spendimg money to put the tag behind the tire.

 

What do they know?! The Harleys are English and the Davidsons are guid Scots....
