Selling a Harley independently
hey all, I had a recent post about thinking of making a change and I've decided to pursue it. A local shop has a brand new 2016 XSR900 on sale for less than 9500 otd which seems like a good price to me.
Now i have to sell my old bike. Any suggestions? The place with the yammie is right across the street from one of the biggest HD dealers in the country and won't take my bike on a trade. I owe about $5k and KBB says my trade in value is 6800 and the dealership price is close to 9k. One HD dealer offered $6k. Is that too low or should I expect to be raked over the coals by a dealer? and if I try to sell privately a number of questions come up:
1. Does it usually take a long time?
2. Do I need to buy my title and pay it off before I can try to sell?
3. Will I reasonably get enough more than the dealer is willing to offer to make it worth my while?
I want ant to move pretty quick because I'm concerned that even on last years model, an otd price lower than msrp on the new bike will make it go fast.
Thanks!
