Front Wheel Gap?

Ok reinstalled my front wheel ('98 cast wheels) and now noticed about a 1/2" gap between the right side of the hub and the right fork lower. The left side spacer sits flush between the hub and left lower. I've read that a small amount of space between the external spacer and the right side lower is normal, but is 1/2" normal? The external spacer I used fit right into the hub and only protrudes out of the hub about 1/16". Pics below - what gives? I should note - I mocked up the caliper and it appears to fit correctly with the current spacing on the left side.

Are you pulling the Right slider out to the Cross-drilled hole in the axle? If so, don't

Then you should have a little less that 1/4" gap

I put a drill bit in the hole when torquing everything down, but the hole crept in maybe 1/32" into the slider - almost flush but not. Is that what you mean?

I mean...disregard anything to do with that hole, other than maybe using it for a place to hold it while torquing the nut.

Things are different on the 99-earlier than the 2000-07.

Let the slider finds it own position or gently position it so it has approx .240" between the slider and the spacer
