My brake light is staying on and will not shut off any suggestions

Have you done anything lately with the right grip or brake lever? The micro switch is very easy to damage.
If not check for the lever returning all the way forward when you let go of it, I had a bee stuck in there once that wouldn't let the lever fully return.
