Little bit of work done today... well prep at least for more work. Got her all washed up and ready to be stripped down. That will be the job tomorrow. Pics below:

Before:

After:

Also fixed the triple trees. The bars were slightly out of alignment from being laid down. All straight now. I'm debating trying to powder the triple trees or just buying a new set. The tab on the lower triple tree busted off (as is common on a drop) and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth buying the lower again... we'll see. I can pick one up on eBay for around $75, but I'm trying to keep a tight budget on this one. It would also save me some powder cost, but probably only about $15 or so. Frankly I wonder if the upper was slightly "tweaked." Forks don't appear bent. I spun them in the lower tree and didn't appear bent at all.

Also ordered the tank and new front fender (I tried to salvage the existing by pounding it straight... yeah didn't work so great...)

Lots to do tomorrow - time to strip that girl NAKED!!!

Also, just added a cost tally to the initial post. Might help others make a comparison of cost on some of my items.

Got the "paint booth" today. I don't want stuff flying all over my garage and I think it turned out pretty alright.

Starting to prep for paint. This is going to take me forever... no question. I've scuffed up the metal on one side(which I'm not sure I need to) and then I'll use pre-paint and tack cloths to clean it up. Really trying to make it look good and factory... well as factory as I can. I'm also going to be replacing all of the bolts and painting under them as I swap them out.. Frankly they're all beat up and nasty so I might as well get new ones. @$40 I figure it'll be worth it to not have a bunch of them rusting. Anyway some early pics...

I just picked it up at my local autozone 5 or 6 years back. Sucker works perfectly and I've used it for everything from Sporty's to Street Glides. Never had an issue.

It's just a standard motorcycle lift. My buddy has one of these and it is another good one for the $$:
