so i blew a head gasket and upon tearing into it i found a cross threaded head bolt so after pulling the head off i found that the stud hole where the cross threaded bolt was is chipped off on the top side towards the cylinder sleeve my question is what is the cheapest fix other than buying a new jug

Sorry you gotta deal with this ****. I mean, how the hell does that happen?! Does someone just jamb the head bolt down on the post and start cranking on it with a breaker bar? Maybe slamming it with a hammer to try and knock it back straight again?!
I don't get it.

If I'm reading your post right, you are saying that the head bolt was cross threadeed on the stud, yes? I wouldn't be concerned wbout the chip.. i'd wonder about the condition of thhe threads on the stud. Is it resusable or chewed up/fubar?
