No pressure then!

 

Day 7. Can't believe that just a week ago my Harley was all dirty and rusty! Now it is almost ready to be put back together! The frame and the block were thoroughly steamed, and pressure washed. Looks brand new!))



Lots of new parts came in this week. And new tires. I left my rims at the motorcycle shop to remove the old bearings. I'll powder coat the rims too.



Almost everything is ready. Only the rear fender needs to be chopped shorter and painted. I decided to leave the dent on the tank for now. I'll buy a new tank later. I'd like to do some real nice paint job. For now, I don't want to go over my budget.



I talked to a buddy of mine, and he recommended to use transmission hoses of proper sizes from O'Reilly to replace all the old ones on my bike. The original rubber lines cost about a hundred bucks each, which if confusingly expensive. What do think? is it a good alternative? Seems to be working for him

 

Just mentioned that its says ''front'' on both tires?! But 130/90-16 is the rear tire! Whatta heck?

 

Nice project! I remember my younger days when i could spend all my time in my shop.
I miss them.

 

Almost done! The rims turned out absolutely gorgeous! Matte black with red reflecting stripes, thy look fantastic!



Checked the carb today. I was worried that it might be all damaged from inside. California gas has lots of biofuels in it. I was lucky my bike tank was dry. No need to rebuild it.



I'll check the wiring tomorrow and buy a few feet of hoses for oil, fuel, etc. If all goes well, will be done by the weekend!

 

Little by little it starts to look like a motorcycle))



Wiring was rewrapped with Black High Heat Wiring Cloth Tape. Forks were assembled and filled with new oil.



Wrinkle black powder coating turned out great (on the third time) on the tranny. Cams case still doesn;t want to be the same color and texture with sprocket case.





Stubborn bastard)) I'll get the color I need one way or another!

I'm picking up my wheels tomorrow! Brand new rubber mounted and balanced. New bearings were installed.

 

Lookin good! It's all comin together. Lookin forward to the finished product.

 

And now it stands on its own. Memphis Shades Gauntlet Fairing looks fantastic!





It was quite a discovery for me that the front tire faces backward compare to the rear tire. In a car world, tire threads should always face forward.
