Put a bigger tank on it. **** millage just ride

 

I appreciate the feedback. Sounds like properly tuned, mileage shouldn't suffer much at all.

With a bigger tank I wouldn't be as concerned, but style wise the Iron is the best looking bike in Harley's lineup IMO and I don't know if swapping out the tank would change the look too much for me. A four gallon peanut tank would be perfect.

My goal for Betty is to be a do everything bike which so far it has done well with the changes I've already made. The additional power and swapping out the front sprocket would make it better on long loaded trips.

 

Mileage is about the same with the 1275 kit.

If you think about it, it still takes the same amount of power to move you at a given speed. That being said, you will only twist the throttle enough to keep a given speed which may happen to be less throttle input if you have a bigger motor.

 

I filled up yesterday. Got 51.4 MPG. That's 55 on back roads, a couple of 20 mile runs at 75 and around town. That's better than the 46 MPG I got when it was an 883.
