Whew! Fun first ride huh? BTW I love that key ring. Looking forward to the outcome of this one. I have neither owned nor even rode an Ironhead. But they have always been intriguing to me. I check to see if there are any for sale on Craigslist once in a while and wonder.

If you place an order with me in the future, remind me and I will send you one with the order.

As for the IronHead I had searched around for a while myself... I got this one for next to nothing but they are getting harder to find.

So glad you turned back.
I think she should be painted red and has chosen her own name... "Christine"

Red would be sharp! The springer front end will be black and the frame as well.

I love the movie Christine. I always wished my truck would repair itself and come back to life like that. I would run over Hondas all day long.

And so it begins...

I will be getting the bike up in the air soon, just working with what I have at the moment.

It didn't take long for me to learn something the hard way... didn't realize there was a hose routing from the oil tank, to a dead end port on the battery box. For the sake of knowing, can someone explain why it is there???

i'll take a guess ... as the bike gets hot the oil 'expands' (i'm sure there's a proper word for that !) and that tube lets the air in the oil tank go somewhere instead of adding pressure to the oil system .

Over the years I've seen studs on frames and battery boxes used to keep drain hoses. Too long ago to remember specifics, but that sounds like a drain hose.
