170/70-16 on 14 or newer sporty?
I've seen and read the 2 threads about putting 170's on sportsters but the thread is dated back in 2015 so none of the bikes posted were '14 later sportsters. Does anyone have any photos of a 170 on their newer sporty? Also I really dont want to buy a shinko and i noticed that 99% of people throwing the 170 on went with the shinko. I just ride my bike everyday to and from and i live in florida so it rains alot so i normally dont go cheaper on my tires. anyone done the Avon Cobra in 170/70 its only .4 wider the the skinko. any advice and pics would be helpful, Couldnt do the 160/80 cause it would be to tall (O.D)
Thanks.
Thanks.

Well I know of a guy who ran the Avon Cobra in the 160/80 and he said it rubbed but the 160/80 is a little over an inch taller than the 170/70 so I don't know what it was rubbing because he was unspecific (rubbing in width or height) . But even if I couldn't run the cobra I was still hoping someone may have some pics for reference of a 14 or newer sporty with a 170/70, Shinko even.

Another consideration is rim width. The Shinko seems to be suitable for a stock 3" wide rim, whereas that size in other brands recommends a wider rim. As for Avon tyres, take a look at their Storm, which is available in more suitable profiles. I use a 160/70 on my 4.5" wide rim in my old Glide and will be using them front and rear on my SuperLow. Always check manufacturers' websites for tyre details, to get the best data.

Yeah I got on Avon's site and reviewed all their specs before making this post and got some ideas, I just really don't like the idea of being the first to try to mount it. No one likes eating the price of a tire if it doesn't work. I may just end up going safe and getting my oem tire size. I just like the way a 160/170 ride better. I just feel like I can hit corners much harder (could be in my head). I looked into the pirelli sport demon and the widest tear they make is a 150

My SuperLow has a 4.5" wide rear rim, but I'm not sure the other models have a similar width, except the 1200T? If your bike still has a 3" wide rim then most brands of 170/70 tyre are not suitable, as they will require a minimum rim width of 4.5". Of course, if you have a wire-spoked wheel you can easily have a suitable wider rim built onto your hub.
