Rear rotor question
 

Is there any advantages to a polished rotor? Mine have always been satin and this one is getting rather thin and am looking to get a new one and really don't know if there is an advantage.

Looks! As it wears the area covered by the pads will eventually look the same as any other rotor, but the remainder will hopefully stay bright and shiney.

Proper brake rotor surface finish is, of course, important in regard to braking performance. Below is link that might help: http://www.aamco.alldata.com/online2...ace_finish.htm The problem I see with running polished 'brake pad swept' surfaces is that the pads will most likely 'glaze' and thus reduce braking performance. Other issues with 'glazed' pads is that they can cause excessive heat built up that can result in rotor distortion and stuck caliper pistons (especially under heavy braking situations). Meanwhile, these problems are not factored into finely detailed 'show' only bikes.
