Default FP3 decel pop - can't stand it anymore!

Yes, I am the one who started the FP3 is awesome thread. I was wrong. It's not awesome. Did the canned map for my set up. Decel pop gone, and power band up. All good. Until some time goes by and some use. Then it grows back. A lot. Tried the whole auto tune thing. Driving around and around so it could "learn" and color it's dots. Same thing. A little better for a while, then back to decel snap crackle & loud pop. Back to the original map, and an attempt at using the firecrackers. One firecracker did nothing. Two firecrackers makes it better for the first few minutes of a ride, then back to burble and gunshots. Going to try the three firecrackers, but not expecting much. If still the same, this thing is going back to Amazon, and I'll try PV. There has to be some way to ride normally, and not have this annoying and loud popping. Right? Is there? Anyone?

Assuming you did everything right. I'm thinking bad Fp3 or maybe a small exhaust leak?

I have an Fp3 and no problems. Also have chatted with Vance and Hines over the phone and was satisfied with the outcome.

reduce the fuel on decel. no idea how to do this with the fp3 but, i'm sure the option is there somewhere. that will help. auto-tune isn't going to make that change for you. using a pv isn't going to magically make the issue go away. adjusting decel enleanment will help.

this might help. firecrackers, lol.

Many times popping can be caused by an exhaust leak. Don't know squat about an FP3. With a PV you can add fuel in the fuel table and help the popping. My bike will pop some when cold but once warmed up I get none.

You do realize that once the FP3 writes the map to the ECM it does no more. It seems to me if it was good for a while and then started to get worse, something is going wrong with your bike.

I've been running with the FP3 for about 2 months now, and honestly I don't have any decel popping anymore. When I had my HD Performance Street tuner, I had so much decel popping you would have thought I had a 50 cal Gatling gun! The fact that the decel keeps creeping back in on your bike regardless of the FP3 setup makes me think it's probably an exhaust leak as the others have mentioned.

I have an original fuel pack, and tuned our almost all decel pop. Contact V&H, but if it worked for awhile it's probably not the FP3.

Is checking for an exhaust leak something I can easily do? Or do I need an appt. at the dealer?

PV is a good investment but may not be necessary until you have exhausted your options...

Did you check for leaks?...if it was running fine then started popping perhaps your exhaust sprung a leak...check all your connections. Be sure the nuts at the heads are torqued and the clamps are tightened....if you have a leak, no tune will help unless you specifically address decel enleanment/enrichment. Since your bike is new, your gaskets are probably fine.

If it's a really new bike, more than likely the exhaust bolts at the head need re-torqued. As well as the head and cylinder bolts.
