Best engine upgrades for sportster
hi everyone, I'm actually from the Dyna section however my friend wants to build his 13 72 sporty 1200. Yea, I may have been pushing him to do this. Anyway this would be my first time upgrading a 1200 (more experience on 103/110) so I'm interested to hear what others have done and what the results were.
Hes lookin at the screamin eagle stage 4 kit but I think he might be better off with s&s or a 1250 kit with heads. I like how the 1250 includes gear drive cams and runs 11.2:1 compression over she's 10.5, and it's much cheaper which saves money for upgraded heads and larger throttle body.
Thank you you for any advice/input.

Why do the 1250 when you can do the 1275 kit. Sounds like money is not an issue.
The S&S 100" kit seems WAY over priced for the power you get. I saw a dyno with "only" 100hp. I say "only" because a mild 1275 set up will hit 100 hp at a fraction of the price.
Hammer 1275 kit. All you have to do is call and tell them how much power you want to make. They send you a quote with parts list to meet that.

ive never heard of the 1275 kit (more familiar with 103/110). Yes money is an issue, but since he wants to do it over the winter, he has started saving in advance. I will look into the 1275 but I agree with the 100 ci being way overpriced. Are there any other larger displacement kits available? Thank you for the help
