I'm 3rd owner, guy I bought it from didn't ride it & didn't know what kind of oil was in it, mileage 13,000 miles. I changed to mobile 1 v2, aircooled, not sure it's best for this engine, has just #1 screaming eagle engine. Thanks for any advise on how to reduce chatter.

 

They're noisy bikes. If you're not used to it they can be different at first. That Mobil1 V twin is an excellent oil and won't be a problem.

 

Thanks, thought that might be the case, this is a real nice bike but it will take some getting used to, 1st Harley since 1959. I've got real bad hearing but that that noise coming from the heads is loud.

 

When it comes to noise M1 V2 is not your friend. By far the best I've tried is Spectro 25-60 dino oil. In fact, as a rule dino oils are always quieter than syns of the same weight.

Thanks for all the replys, good info. At my age (& 154 lbs, artificial hip, etc) don't have any business even thinking about it but am wondering what the 103- 110 motors would sound like, Breakouts look great.

 

They sound like sewing machines. There is a lot of valve train noise (at least on my 103).
