Hi guys,

I have just bought an Iron 883 from 2015, and though I am very happy and excited about the keyless startup system, I was wondering "what would happen if the battery died? How can it turn it on actually using the key?"... So I started looking around the bike and to my surprise, I can not figure where that key would go so I could start it up the old-fashioned way...

I know that is a noob question hahah but could someone enlighten me?

Try turning on the bike without the fob and it will prompt you to enter a five digit code with the turn indicators.

 

there is no key. That key you have is for the neck/stem lock.

change your fob battery every season and dont leave you fobs near your bike.

Right now, WHILE YOU DON'T NEED IT, learn how to enter your pin code. MASTER IT. Then change the code to somethng you will not forget. Right now, it is probably the last 5 digits of the vin (subbing zeros for ones)

If you haven't already read the owners manual or skimed through it, nows a good time. The enture manual can be found on HD's site under "Owners". Just put in your vin and it, along with wiring diagrams and such are there for you.

 

Hello everybody... Time has passed and I have just noticed that even though I had read and done what you said, I never replied or thanked you... Totally forgot...

So, thank you for your advice, I was able to change the original pin and enter my own, everything works great!
