2016 Forty Eight
Purchased a new (left over) 16' 48 a few weeks ago and figured I'd start a thread and share upgrades & adventures on the lil sporty!
After searching high and low, found the one I wanted, only draw-back was the 600 mile trip (one way) to go get it :icon_omg
Couldn't pass it up, awesome deal from a family owned mom & pop shop - in the paint scheme I wanted!
The first thing I changed - was adding a set of accutronix 6" extended forward controls. I'm only 5'11" but am ailing from severe arthritis (DJD) in both hips and lower back/knees and I just cant bend like I used-to, but do pretty good stretched out.
One note on the accutronix 6" extended forward controls : I think they are made for the 2014 and earlier models because when mounted up, the left one is a little lower and further away than the right one.
and
In order to hook up the brake pedal and brake rod, I had to use a longer screw and about a 5/8" spacer between the pedal mount and the rod-end on the brake rod to allow the brake rod to clear the front header pipe

Next up was the stock seat, I could only ride about 20 minutes before my butt was so numb I could barely tell I still had one!
After much debate, decided to go with a spring seat from mother road customs
Its the largest seat they make and I got them to add extra foam for my fat aching as$.
Most people prefer a thinner seat foam for the minimalistic look (me included) but in this case I had to go w/ function over fashion
the foam is dense and takes a few hundred miles to break-in (huge improvement over stock)

installed a bunch of performance components today
Rush slipons w/ 1.75 baffles
K&N aircleaner
Dynojet PV w/ a tune from fuelmoto
I installed the mufflers first
here is a picture of the stock baffles and catalytic converter (all choked-up)
it runs surprisingly good good w/ that much restriction
now a shot of the 1.75 conventional baffle
the 2014-18 Rush slipons are a couple inches longer than stock mufflers, which l like
I'll get a picture of the bike & report on performance gains soon
