Default New wife bike

Gave the wife her Christmas present so she could ride a little before the snow and freezing temps come. Needless to say she was pumped, she had no idea, I bought it for her about a month ago and left it at the dealer and took her there to get it and ring the bell and stuff. I think the gas in it is shitty, gonna change it out and change the plugs today. Otherwise it was a really good deal. Can anyone suggest some pipes for it? She wants it to sound like a Harley, she wears a full face with ear plugs usually and wants the VH short shots, I see they have a “quiet baffle” for them too, but I’m worried they’ll be too loud on a long ride. I was thinking the VH slip ons would be better. Thanks for the advice.

I have 1200c and had the v&h 3" slip ons w quiet baffles and we're too loud for me even with A full helmet. I eventually got the screaming eagles which are not quite as loud but don't hurt my ears anymore. A few told me screaming eagles were only slightly louder than stock but not my experience. I really like them and at higher crazing speeds the bike runs better. Just as nice looking too.

Wife's bike, 883 iron, has the v&h short shots and she doesn't think they're loud enough. I think they're plenty loud and have a really nice sound on such a small motor...this is her first bike but has ridden with me for 14 years. I told her much louder and the attention we're going to attract isn't the kind we like.

Nice! Everyone is giving their opinion on pipes, so here's mine.

My son has V&H short shots on his Iron, he loves them. Me, WAY too loud on acceleration, almost obnoxiously loud. They do have a nice tone at cruising speed though, and not all that loud then.

I went with a pair of Rush 1.75" slip ons. They are considerably louder than stock, but don't have the crackling/ear splitting sound when accelerating the V&H Short Shots do.

Just my .02...

Nice bike for the little woman. She will enjoy it. Don't get mufflers that are too loud. I know some equate noise with performance but it doesn't work that way. Just my opinion.

Very nice ride for the Mrs. can tell she's grinning from ear to ear behind that chin guard! Personally I think the short shots are too load and not pleasant over the long haul. I have the V&H twin slash slip-ons and have been extremely happy with them. Got a good bark when you twist the throttle, plenty load so that you get noticed by others on the road and have a good tone when cruising.

We’re leaning towards the VH slip ons. Thanks.

Great choice of bike, Mrs B has one as well. I suggests she rides it as it is for a while, before messing with it. The noise a modified Harley makes can be a drag after a while. A 2-into-1 would be better, as it leaves the noise behind the rider once you get motoring - a Supertrapp would be my choice (have one on my Glide).

Your wife looks great on her new bike. That's a huge smile! My first Harley was a Sportster, and I loved that bike. Had Screamin Eagle exhaust, and sounded real good. I wish I had kept it, but don't have room for all the toys I want.
Congratulations, and Merry Christmas!!!!!
