Default Inspection Port Bolts

I've got a stripped bolt to the inspection port which I need to remove. I'm planning on drilling it out with a small bit, but i'm wondering if I might run into any problems here. I'm sure this is a common problem and i'm just wondering if there are any issues I need to be aware of before I begin drilling it out. Thanks

ps should I have the drill going left so that it might just unscrew as i'm drilling?

You could try an "easy out" bit. A regular bit rotating in reverse will do nothing as its threaded to only cut in going clockwise.

try a rubber band over the allen tool first.

No, that is unlikely to work IMHO. In fact I would also be wary of trying to drill the screw, although that action may well loosen it.

Didn't for me. I'm gonna try the ez removal drill bit which I guess is just a left cutting bit. But it should work.

Did you use liquid wrench or some other kind of penetrating oil along with the rubber band trick? If not, try that first before you start drilling into your case. And if that doesn't work google some you-tube videos to get yourself familiar on how to use easy outs. There's more than one type to use and using the wrong one can turn things into a real mess for you. My best results have been with the type that looks like a reverse helix hand tap.
Best of luck.

What kind of bolt?
Did you heat the bolt first? Maybe with a solder iron?
Is it an allen/hex? Can you tap a torx into it with a hammer in order for torx to get stuck.
Have you considered cutting a slot with a dremel and then using a large flat screwdriver or drag link socket to remove.

I tried heating the case around the bolt along w/the rubber band w/no luck. It's really jammed in there. I'll put some penetrating oil on it tonight and try again in the am, but am doubtful its gonna work. The dremel idea is a good one and may try that if Ii can cut into the bolt and not the casing. Appreciate the advice on using ez out bit and will check out a youtube video on it. Thanks!

ps it's a torx bolt

The trick with the dremel is to wear a blade down on something else to make it just a little bigger than bolt head.
Then poke a hole in cardboard and tape cardboard to area so only the bolt head shows in hole made in the cardboard.
