Installing breather bolts.

Can I use this instead of lock tight when installing my breather bolts?

Yes. I use the tape.

I never put loctite on breather bolts. Pipe dope or tape if that’s all you have.

I don't think tape is really necessary on those bolts. No leaks in 28 years.

Yes, this tape will be fine to use. In our general notes in the instructions, we remind you to use thread locker, teflon tape, or teflon paste, so you're good to go!

Would love to see a pic once installed!

Will definitely do!

Should I remove these breather drainer tubes after I install the bolts? Would it help it breath better, or should I just leave it?

Yes remove the tubes and plug the holes behind the back plate. DO NOT USE THREAD LOCK the boots are hollow and will snap when you try to remove them. Also thread lock it glue and the heat from the heads will make the thread lock become liquid then hard when it cools. Just use the teflon

I will purchase Teflon paste instead. Btw what do you mean by “plug the holes behind the back plate” Shouldn’t the bolts automatically seal any blow by from entering the air intake compartment? And seal it with what/how?

Where you remove the tubes, plug the holes or you'll be sucking in outside air.

You will have to remove your back plate. You can tap threads in the vent holes of the back plate and put set screws in with red locktite. Or you can also seal the holes with some high temp silicone and make sure to leave a little nipple larger than the hole on the breather bolt side of the back plate so it can't get sucked in. Either way will work. I have attached pics of the back plate from my previous bike with the holes plugged with set screws. This was a back plate from the SE Heavy Breather air cleaner. Your back plate may look a bit different but should basically be the same.

This is showing the hole from the inner or intake side of the back plate with threads tapped.

This is the hole with set screw and red loctite.

This pic shows the breather bolt side and the hole is just abive and to the left (at about 9 o'clock with the barb being at 6 o'clock) of the copper hose barb that I threaded in to vent to the atmosphere. It's hard to see but I figured I would put it up for reference.
