DIY Coil Relocation
Has anyone done this? I only found 1 thread that wasn't very helpful. I want to relocate the coil, but I can't spend $60 on the DK kit.

I made mine from mild steel stock, put the bends on both ends, made another piece with 90 degree bend to mount the coil to, then attached it to the top bracket with rubber from a rim strip as a "washer", no vibrations to cause bracket failure. Been running this way for about 8k miles
I will try to get pics in the next couple days when I get the time |
I'm cheap too. Here's what I did: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...l#post15808056

I used the existing mount and moved it. The steel backing plate to the coil has two bolts. Underneath the tank (if you did a tank lift) there is a welded flat piece of the frame that you can slide the bracket under and tighten down.
Been this way for 2-3 years now, no issues. Granted alot of other parts have come and gone, but that still sits under the tank. |
