Default 1985 Harley sportster

New to the Harley world just got a 1985 sportser I thought the clutch plates were bad but upon investigation my pressure plate is cracked would that give me high rpms with no speed

High rpm with no speed? Sounds like the clutch is slipping. It's the last year of the Ironheads, so there's some regular maintenance to do on regularly. Get a Factory Service Manual, THAT will be very useful. In the mean time, look for IROHEAD SPORTSTER - CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT on You Tube. Get it adjusted correctly and see if the problem goes away. FYI, I have a 1977 XLH 1000.
