Sportie is great for riding 2-up.
Last year, wife and I rode coast to coast on our 2015 "72", tent camp most of the nights.
we added a sissy bar, and a cargo rack to keep the rear fender paint nice.

read about our trip below

I never rode a sportster 2 up, just the softtails that I have rented in the past.

Combined weight of GF and myself is 300lbs. I figured this was light enough that it would work. I was thinking about getting a Softtail but got this sportster because I loved how it looked and rode. The dealer said yeah go for it, but they just want me to buy a bike.

I was thinking "I can trade this in within a year (for purchase price) towards a softtail if it's not good 2 up" so I guess we'll see.
I have a 2014 48, did the same, tossed on a seat pad, fabricated a sissy, put in the rear foot pegs. I am about 205 on a good day ... I have given a couple gals rides ... one is about 110 soaking wet ... with her no problem , the other a bit heaver .. maybe 130 and its a noticeable difference with her on the back. So rather than me losing weight I went with the smaller chick

Thumbs up

Cool, sounds like I'll be all set.

Dealer is putting on the stuff Saturday morning. Hopefully it will be nice out, bring the GF to a biker bar and practice my head buts.

I was just looking through my manual and see that I have an adjustable preload on the rear, may mess with that later. More things to play with

It's a 1200 cc bike..it will handle 2 people easily.
For a little more comfort try some Road King Air Shocks, bolt on in place of the stock ones
