Default Dynojet power vision stock 883

Hey guys, I’ve been watching YouTube videos that all day that the stock 2018 xl883n runs lean from the factory because of the epa standards. I was wondering how I would tune my bone stock bike the richen it up a little. And how much difference would a tune on a stock bike make?

My $0.02 - You will see many people selling "tuning" products telling you the Harleys run lean so they can sell you something to "richen it up".

The EPA emissions compliance drive cycle doesn't include anything close to full throttle.
My 2013 stock tune only runs in "closed loop" mode up to about 25-30% throttle. Maybe a littler higher at high rpms > 4000. By half throttle you will be running full power rich

Once it is in open loop the set AFR is 12.5 to 1 (0.856 lambda)

You could get a Power Vision and run Auto Tune with your narrow band O2 sensors and likely get better gas mileage and a smother running engine.

I would not suggest using the DynoJet "stock improved" tune. They tend to turn off closed loop and adaptive control.

When I got my 2017 SuperLow XL1200T it sounded lean. My dealer confirmed it but assured me it wouldn't harm the engine. It just sounded raspy and horrible.
I purchased a FP3 and applied the stock bike tune. This made a massive difference. The engine ran cooler, the engine sounded happier and the horrible exhaust note disappeared.

I have since done a stage 1 but in all honesty just being able to richen the mixture would of been fine.

V&H give a tune for a stock bike.
