Default Replacing triple tree/chrome sliders

I want to replace triple tree and sliders.

Is this a do it yourself project or should dealer do it?

Thanks

Depends, do you own good tools? Do you have a manual? A bike jack? Are you changing the rake, and do you understand rake and trail? Experiance turning a wrench? What about friends that will help, or are you on your own?

Anyone can do it, but if you have any concerns at all, get a shop to do it, but IMO, not a HD dealer. Why pay HD rates for a simple re and re.

I didn't look where you are, but there is a bunch of guys here that can do it or help you.

I was actually thinking about doing this same thing for the chrome lowers. I was told there is a special tool that's needed to do the lower sliders. The dealer told me they would change the lower's for a little over $100. I plan on shopping around to see if I can find a local shop do them a little cheaper. I plan on using the same parts as stock except all chrome. What are your plans?
