Default Iron883 primary oil question

I was getting my wife's bike ready for a 300 mile ride tomorrow and while adjusting the clutch I noticed I could barely reach any oil with a finger in the bottom of the primary. This is my first sportster so I'm not sure how high the oil should be. I'm pretty sure however it shouldn't be that low.

Ok questions are. Should the oil level be near the bottom of the cover like on a twin cam? And since I have a bunch of Mobil 1 v twin at the moment will this be ok to use. I will likely do a full service on the bike when we get back next week with a full drain and new oil. I am really just trying to make sure we will be ok for the long weekend. It's her first real distance ride and I don't want something stupid to ruin it.

As I read thee posts I can not believe so many people do not read their owners manual. It tells you every thing you need to keep your bike running. If you didn't get one when you bought the bike you can go on line and get one free. If you are going to ride a bike learn how to look after it. I am sorry and I am not being rude but I believe if you cant maintain your bike you should not have it because a poorly maintained bike can be a danger on the road to the rider and also to bystanders. Also you are putting your wife's live on the line by not knowing how to look after your bike

Sorry but the rude comments are unnecessary. I bought the bike used so didn't recieve an owners manual. I am trying to fall asleep so I can wake up in 4 hours for work from which I will be attempting to hit the road as soon as possible. It's easier to ask some fellow riders here for real life info about bike maintenance than search the internet and decipher the owners manual only to find out it likely recommends something other than the oil I already have on hand. I was simply looking for real life advice about my situation since I'm low on time and have minimal experience with this particular bike, it being new to me and all. I am more than capable of handling my sh*t, including the safety of my family.

If if you have nothing constructive to add then shut the f*ck up and go back to feeling superior behind the anonymity of a keyboard.

Rant over. I'm going to sleep. Maybe tomorrow morning someone will have a quick answer to my question so I can get on the road quick.

I can tell you are a very smart person. Getting 4 hours of sleep, going to work and then hitting the road fully refreshed and then letting your wife ride a bike you or she know nothing about. I sincerely hope she makes it back alive.
I have said my piece and am finished with any further comments. I wish you and you wife a safe ride
