Default Halo light wiring

Hey guys, so i bought a halo led daymaker, but when it came in it didnt have any instructions on how to wire it correctly, i have an 2018 iron 883, i just dont get what to do for the halo lights to turn on as well because theres a main plug that plugs in no problem but then theres a piece of red wire that should be pluged in or something but i have no clue where

Not knowing the brand/model of light you purchased I suspect the red wire is for the Halo feature to power on? The ground is most likely coming from the plug from the headlight to your wiring harness? You have options as to how you want to wire the Halo, always on, put a switch on it, replace the low beam with it. Up to you.

Here is another thread as your not the first to ask about wiring a Halo.

So to keep the halo light on where do i connect the red wire? And to connect it what would i do, would i have to take the wires out and connect them then put electrical tape?

Go to your local automotive parts store - they have "Vamp Clamps" and pick up a Test Light. The above wiring diagram shows your low beam headlight power is served from the "Yellow Wire". Confirm that with the test light. Also, pick up some extra fuses.

Red supplies power to the halo led. Quick and easy way is to connect it to a constant power source. The yellow wire is your constant low beam light. Just grab a lighter. Fire up a small part of the yellow wire for 3-5 seconds and then with your fingers grab the melted rubber and pull it off the metal. No cutting required. Wrap the red around the exposed wire. Soldier and tape. Done.

The careful and safe way would be to add a small in line fuse to the red wire then run that to the yellow. Just for added protection in case the led malfunctions which probably will never happen and if it does there’s already a fuse connected to your light bucket.

Red wire will go to the aux wire in your bucket if there is one in yours. If theres not one in you bucket, you can upgrade to a more current set of wires. I do not have part numbers but most of the newer harnesses have the aux wire.

I favored weather resistant spade terminals.
