Default pesky battery cover clips

hi, i did review all of the old posts on those pesky battery cover clips and how to modify them so the cover does not come loose. I have the grey clips, is drilling a small hole through the clips on both ends and running a wire tie thru the holes the best method? thanks

I had this problem when I first bought my 883,ended up losing the battery cover twice 2nd time was on a highway so I couldnt get it back. I went to the dealer and they warrantied(dont know if thats spelled right) the cover and replaced the clips with better ones. Since then I have had no problem with it *knock on wood*.

I've not had any problems since the dealer replaced the clips on mine either. Apparently there are new clips that work better. Whatever they've done, it seems to be working on my bike.

yes, drill small hole through clips. Thenput cable strap through it. Cut off extra length.

Don't let the 'new, improved' clips for the battery cover fool you.

I've seen those fail as well.

Yep, I had the "new, improved" clips on my bike when I totally lost the freekin cover.

And in most cases that have been reported here, the stealer hasn't covered that under warranty, including in my case. I did FINALLY get them to replace the Wing Tip Chrome accessory that was on the lost cover. But that was just because the owner of the dealership got tired of hearing about it, and me discussing it with potential customers at the dealership..

And yes, the tie wrap works very well.

The advantage of not having a battery cover, it won’t fall off
