stripped primary chain inspection cover threads and janky fix
Think this will hold? My first go I jb welded just the screw on the right, the left isn't stripped. That seemed ok, but it was seeping oil slightly, probably since the right side never got that tight. Second time around I sanded down the insides a bit and slathered the cover in jb weld, slathered the screws in jb weld and locked it all down, no gasket, no o rings, and hopefully no leaking. At least the one good screw will keep it from falling off completely worst case scenario. It's going to rain so I won't be tempted to touch it tomorrow. Eventually I'll put a new primary cover on, or maybe adjust the primary chain by sound, I wasn't confident to pull it off and readjust the chain and clutch in a timely manner and didn't want to pay a shop a ton of money to helicoil or wait ages for a new cover. Hopefully I have a few thousand miles to psych myself up for the job.
After stripping it I read the thread about not following the 100 in lbs torque value and just going hand tight, but it was actually the lip on the cover that cracked and caused too much pressure onto the side of the screw hole threading and breaking it. Something to check next time I go cranking down on it. I'll take stripped heads any day over this.

Everyone's gotta start somewhere learning bike maintenance and everyone's screwed up along the way too. There are enough people who don't even try to fix their own bikes these forum guys should be encouraging you with good advice and don't quit attitudes. Remember, if you aren't sure what you're doing, first look in the service manual (you do have one right?) and then ask on the forum before you jump in. Most of the time between the members and the manual you'll have all the knowledge and advice you need to make a good job of it. Hang in there and keep trying. Good luck.
