thanks man, I love that low, simple look. I was trying to do something that was a nod to old school Sportys while adding some modern stuff. Cant wait to get a spoked wheel on the rear!

Do it.

We all started that way, congrats on the first "long ride"

And I agree with kap, do it!

One suggestion, don't test a new helmet on a road trip.

Nice ride. How did your seat work on your first long trip? I find, I like to stop and walk around every few hours.

Good point, I'll be doing my regular commuting so I'll wear it for that too. So far, so good, been wearing it around the house and it feels awesome.

Awesome picture of ride through New Mexico!

Seat was pretty good, a little pressure on my tailbone from a seam in my jeans but overall comfy. I found the same you did, got of the bike every couple of hours to walk around and drink some water. Worked out well with the 3.3 gal tank too.

That was during the Iron Butt Rally in 2017. I did not have cell coverage for hours. A few hours later on I-40 about 100 miles east of Flagstaff I lost my charging system. Glad it wasn't in NM where I had no cell coverage ...

Dang that's crazy. I know you have a 4.5 gal tank on your bike, do you also carry fuel with you?

Well sort of

I have a second tank with another 6 gallons of fuel which gives me a range of 400+ miles at interstate speeds. You can see it under the tourpak in the photo below. I cannot go that long without stopping but it's nice to know I won't need fuel for a while. No more stopping short because I need a bathroom. What it gives me is options. I compete in rallies which are scavenger hunts where in a 32 hour rally I may cover 1200 miles and ride in the middle of nowhere at night where fuel is scarce.

The right saddlebag has my tools and the left has a quart or two of oil. Tourpak has my clothes and a laptop. I've greatly reduced the amount of stuff I carry and could probably due with a smaller tourpak. The photo was taken on my way to the start of the 2017 Iron Butt Rally so I had extra clothes in the bag on the luggage rack because I was hanging out in the hotel for a few days prior to the start and wanted to have clean clothes for the finish
