I'm with you!
ok, so I know I am about to commit an act of heresy, but I have decided I don't like my mirrors hanging under the bars. If I had taller handlebars, I could see it more, because I wouldn't be looking over AND down so much, just over a bit. But on the stock 48 bar, its gotta go for me. So my question is, do I need to get the appropriate torx/star drive for those, or will a 3/16 hex wrench do the job? If I need the real thing, what size is that torx bit?
thanks in advance for any help

Biltwell chumps bars ( Great bars btw ) Well I still did not feel safe looking down at the mirrors so I flipped them...
boy am I glad I did! The original set-up might look cool but it did not feel safe for me.

ok for anyone who still wants to know, its a T40 on the torx nut. So I'm thinking I'm going to have to buy a new mirror tho. These mirrors were obviously made short to be hanging under the bars, I'd like a little more reach from it now that I have them upright. Yes, I swapped the sides so they are correct. If you can't tell, I'm a fan of mirrors. They might not always be the coolest looking things on the bike but I gotta be able to see stuff. Also thinking about ditching the right hand side, since I don't do much 4 lane riding and I don't think it's necessary for me. I dunno.

Yeah, I was just going to say that RANGER 73 is correct that it is just a nut that requires a Torx bit.

If you don't want to buy a Torx set just yet, you can just use a vise grip to get it off and then buy some cap nuts the right thread size to use when you switch them.
