You might be surprised, especially if you stop for lunch, get off the bike and don't have to walk around the front of the bike to get to the restaurant door.

Applies to newer bikes with clutch, neutral, jiffy stand interlock switches.

That just seems "Goofy" to me......anyone know what their reasoning is for that?
Here's how I see it:
A team of very expensive engineers have been paid to make the bikes operate a certain way. A team of very expensive lawyers have been paid to make sure the bikes are operated the way the engineer's designed them and, further, to make sure the company does not get their tit stuck in a wringer because of some error or omission in the Owner's Manual. If it says to use the switch - I use the switch.

I hardly ever use the kill switch on my 2014 and have never had one single issue. I can see where turning the bike off with the kill switch and being in a hurry and forgetting to turn the key off and running down the battery. Even if the head light is on you may not notice it out side in the bright sun. Using the key has never affected the idle when starting it back up either. Your mileage may vary.

I guess it started about 2007.

I can start mine in gear but only if the clutch is pulled in.

Guys, I was joking about the safety switches. My first street bike had a clutch, gear, and kickstand switch. You had to be an idiot to launch that thing and such a string of bad luck that it was nuts. I love my Harley does not have it. Heck I did not even know that Harley started it and I have ridden countless new ones including 2019s and never noticed that.

But that excuse only comes AFTER the three martini lunch, when you come out and find the dead battery. .

If the bike is in gear the starter button won't activate the starter without first pulling the clutch lever all the way in.

Makes sense?
