Default fork oil level

I got a 2014 xl1200c. I’m replacing the stock fork springs with progressive stock length springs. The instructions say it will use less oil than the o.e. springs but don’t say how much to use just gives a min. I don’t want to blow out the seals or have the level too low. All help would be appreciated!!!!

See if you can find the oil level measurement from the top, that won't change.

When in doubt call their tech support. They'll be glad to help with your concerns.

Yes best answer is to call tech support.

Just maybe the instructions say that because the springs are physically thicker displacing the
amount of oil....when set to the OEM oil level (not volume/ amount/ ounces) measurement spec.

Buying an oil level tool (fairly inexpensive) I recall near $25. is a tool you'll have for a lifetime.

Have fun.

Easier to do with the forks off, so you can get the level centered.

And, if off, you can empty them easier and then flush with some cleaning fluid until it comes out clean.

You can make your own level syringe real cheap to save a few $
