hth,

T.
Ah thanks WKNDS, that helps a lot and explains it thoroughly. i’ll just hook up the case vent hose to the vent hose in the oil tank and be done with it.

going to wire using this diagram:

https://bangmoto.com/blogs/news/04-0...wiring-diagram

but i’ll add a jumper from the starter relay to ground so i don’t have to have that installed. there’s a write up on XL that covers this:

Just a quick update: I'm looking at remounting the oil tank I started with from LedSled. The one I ordered from lowbrow was way too wide and the chain would have definitely hit it. To gain the clearance I need, I'm going to look at switching the fill cap to the left side of the bike rather than the right. Kind of a goofy move but I really don't see how I can get around the chain clearance issues with were the filler cap sits.

So issues like this are why I asked you initially if you got the "whole kit" from LedSled, or just the weld-on tailsection piece.
Would've thought all their "components" would work together and not have issues like that....
Have you talked to LedSled about this?

good luck,

T.

i haven’t talked with Ledsled. i’ve emailed a few times about a couple different things with no response, so i’m going on my own. i’m not mad, since i did order the components seperately. it could be a number of issues i created while putting this thing together. either way, i’m not giving up!

so, i noticed both the return and vent inlets don’t appear to have a tube that would go above the oil level. hmm, that seems weird to me. so that would mean the vent line would need to sit at the 12 o’clock position when installed, right? well that moves the filler neck to a 3 o’clock position, which would lessen the amount of oil i can add.

if that would work, i think my chain clearance would be acceptable.

in a position where the filler cap is upright, the vent and return inlets sit at a 9 o’clock position, so that shouldn’t work, correct?

also, this really doesn’t work well be cause the oil tank fill is basically blocked by the seatstay. switching it to the other side gives me the clearance, but i’d have to put it up on a lift or block the kickstand in order to add/check oil.

IDK on your current oiltank situation... It just doesn't seem like its gonna work.

Have you modified it such that you couldn't return it and get
the "same one" used in their "complete kit" version ?

Just a thought....

good luck,
