According to the MoCo's website the only dealer in Dodge City at present is 'Most Wanted H-D' (strange choice!). Can't find a website for them, which is no surprise with a daft name like that. Could well be the same dealership under a new name.

Luckily mine started going very early at just under 7,500 miles and still under warranty so, I got a free upgrade. Being that it's my first bike I wonder how much of it was due to my riding but, the tech said it was just defective.

Sportsters are tough bikes, meant to be ridden hard. The worst way to abuse a Sporty is to park it. The grenade plate is **** poor.

Default a newly designed clutch pack spring plate possible

After reading this thread I contacted the makers of the plate mentioned in post 24. One of the engineers called me back and said he would like a destroyed one to study so they can see how they can improve it. So if anyone here has a destroyed one they could send me so I could get it off to them I'd appreciate it. I will pay shipping. You can PM me and we can discuss shipping etc. If anyone has pics of broken ones or they damage caused I would like those too, maybe you could post them here for me to copy and paste to him. If all the stars align we may possibly get this problem licked in the near future. It would be nice to have an alternative to the company product, especially if it's better.

Why? Just take it out and be done with it.

Seems like there's a lot of opinions as to why it's there, why not get rid of it, etc. I'm going with they put it there for a reason - my guess to lessen forces on the clutch but I'm no expert. If these guys can come up with a bullet proof one to replace the stock one I'm all for it. Then I don't have to worry about it period. It'll probably cost less too. As with many aftermarket things often better and cheaper than HD.
