Got ya. Budgets I understand, all too well. My bike came with a Screaming Eagle air cleaner, but stock exhaust. I would like. Some performance slip ons but with the intake, that requires retuning. Don't currently have the budget for both, so it has to wait.

Looks good. Maybe i missed it earlier in the thread but are you planning on painting the tank as well to match what you have done?

Personally bigger is better. Nothing like being in the boonies and discovering you are on fumes.

I want to get a 4.5 gallon tank and see how it looks. The only ones I have found are either damaged or the owner thinks its made out of gold.

Its killing me not installing the new exhaust yet. My oil tank cover and battery cover have been painted OD green also, but im not installing them until the exhaust is done and my FP3 arrives for mapping. Other things already done are Excel aluminum wheels laced to new hubs, cut down rear fender, relocated stock turn signals / tail lights. Relocated license plate. Burley solo seat, burley 15 inch stilletto shocks, lowbrow skid plate, kenda big block tires. More to follow.

I like the idea and not too sure what $ you’ve tipped into a project like that it but, Wouldn’t it have been just as easy to leave her as it was made and throw a bit of change down on an XR Honda to bash the trails with ?.

Not criticism, just my 2 c . But I do like the style you have going there 👍.

I went this route just to do something alittle different. I have not spent much out of pocket, since I sold the oem parts as I went along. I could have bought a honda or some other dual sport bike, but I just wanted a Harley. I dont do alot of trail riding, but want to have the ability to hit dirt fire roads from time to time.

The exhaust was a real heartache for me. The systems I really like are just too much money at the moment.
In the end, it just came down to funds. I figure this system gives alot more ground clearance than the oem. The skid plate will hit before the exhaust. It looks better and weighs less than the oem. Im going to keep looking for a used upswept system as well as a 4.5 gallon tank.

There ya go. Thats how I usually end up doing my projects. Personally, none of the single cyl dual sports would hold a candle to this. This bike is not something you will be taking up tiny mountain trails, but it will most likely go any where any GS will go.
