Harley should have used the Buell Blast to start one off. Could easily have been an entry level DS in either 500 or 600cc models. The 1200's could easily be built to compete with the BMW gs series. At least IMHO. A different frame would be preferable.

I wonder how good in the dirt this would be compared to those adventurer tourer bikes like the BMW GS1250, Yamaha Tenere, Suzuki V-Strom 1000, etc.

Without ever having ridden either, I can tell you personally I would go the BMW. The seat on this bike looks horrible. Lol. I doubt I would stay on it long enough to give it a serious ride.

Other than that goofy fact, who knows? Would be a neat review, of a purpose, well built Sporty vs a 1200GS. I think the beemr would score points in smoothness of the engine, but other than that???

Looks like it is made to sling dirt back up on the rider with that poor excuse for a front fender. That guy in the sporty section who is building a dual sport has a nicer bike than this one...

Yea Whylees dual sportster is a better looking bike for sure.

That exposed final drive belt and pulley will just LOVE mud and rocks..

I am not so sure inverted forks are best off road. Any deep water crossings could be a potential issue. Just my opinion.

Motocross bikes have used inverted forks for the past 30 years.
