2017 1200 Sportster--Slip-on Muffler
I plan to install slip-on mufflers as part of my Stage 1 upgrade. I am leaning to either V&H straight shot or Bassani 1X27T. Since I plan to install the slip-on mufflers myself, I will appreciate advice on
1. Any installation difficulties with any of the various brands?
2. Which ones already have an FP3 mapping and how easy was the mapping data transfer?
Thanks and Merry Christmas

I have Khrome Werks 3" HP-Plus Tapered Slip-on Mufflers. They look like stock pipes and have a nice rumble to them.
Others reported they didn't destroy the low to mid torque of the engine. I find the bike does pick up really well.
There shouldn't be any installation difficulties but you may find you have a fight getting the originals off. The clamps are done up pretty tight and they squeeze the mufflers on.
The 2014 onwards mufflers don't have the interconnect pipe which also simplifies installation.

I was kinda lucky and got a set of the 1.5” baffle tubes, and wish they made a 1” set for the 3” pipes.
From what I understand the DK TTI do knock the noise down abit, But their not baffles in the sense of the word.
What did you use on your rush’s ?

On mine there is a bolt at the bottom that holds the baffle in the muffler. Remove this bolt only. I bought a short threaded eyebolt of the same thread diameter. ( 5/16) Buy two fender washers of 2" diameter and sandwich the eyebolt hole between these two fender washers with a short bolt holding them together, one on each side of the eyebolt. Install this piece (lolly-pop?) into the muffler in place of the bolt that you removed. Position the eyebolt with the washers attached crosswise to the flow of the exhaust gasses and tighten it down. This is how to make sound reducers w/o welding.

I had 3" Rush slip-ons with 2.25" baffles and they sounded awesome. I bought the muffs with 2" but wanted to try the 2.25". Both sounded great with that low harley rumble and performed great with my powervision....but I also used DK Customs 158W TTI's to reduce reversion, not to quiet down the pipes. The 258W TTI's did quiet down the pipes some. When I bought the Rush, there were only 3 baffle options...1.75, 2, and 2.25".
To the OP, don't know anything about the slip-ons you are looking at. However, would recommend Dynojet Powervision with Auto Tune over any other tuner. Also when looking for slip-ons be sure to get the correct one for your bike...crossover ports were located on the slip-ons (vs head pipes) up to 2013 or 2014 (not sure what year it changed). Have fun....a lot of info on here if you search.

~ 300 miles on the pipes total with about 200 ish on the 1.75’s and about 75 miles on the 1.5’s.
Are they the 158’s in the picture?
