Changing up to 180 / 200 rear....
I want to change my rear tire from the current "seven single" skinny 150 (only measuring 140!!") to either 180 or 200... but staying with the 16" rim. It seems the 180 will cause the least changes to the bike as I want to retain the current belt and swing arm... I plan to widen my existing rear rim to about 160mm / 6" by cutting both end lips off and welding in a widening "ring" on both sides. However, it seems that I'll need an offset rim as I have more than enough space on the left side, but the belt side seems to have very little room to play with (10mm).
I do not want to change to a chain drive! Neither cutting the swing arm! Anyone done this here that can guide me?? The 200 looks the best but I fear I'll then have to start cutting the bike.... Any suggestions/help from those that have done this before?? (The dozen Youtube videos I've seen is not very helpful at all.) Regards!

im pretty sure you can get a 170 on there with zero modifications to anything. 200 is going to require some work, your own trial and error especially because of all the Stipulations you are requiring. There’s actually info on this forum and more on the Xlforum for wide tire conversions on rubbermount bikes.
200 will require offset front sprocket, I’m not sure about 180. Mine required 3/4” offset for 180, but I’m also a 1992.

Xlforum.net
sometimes a google search brings up forum topics better than a forums search feature

Bottom line is that you’re probably not going to find what you’re looking for. Get it torn apart and figure out what you need imho. Can’t have exactly what you want if you don’t go after it yourself. Or put a 170 on and call it a day.
No offense, but 170 is more than enough for what that bike is capable of. Looks......well, then dig in. Good luck man
