You can get flexible exhaust pipe that will possibly take care of movement and make it easier to get exhaust from right hand side to left.

I have seen in just the last day or two an exhaust system on a sportster that didn't use an interconnect pipe.

Yes, being a believer at least I know who wins. Otherwise it would be a scary world.

LOL Andy believe it or not, last night I was wondering about flex pipes but never seen one that didn't leak a little.

Ok resurrecting and old thread of mine, with a new question. Watching the tour models, that engine shakes like crazy at idle, so how do the touring bikes transition from a shaking, rubber mounted engine, to a solid mount mufflers, or does the whole exhaust system move? Cannot tell which.

Edit, I DO know the mufflers are mounted to the rear loosely, but does anything support the pipes?

The pipes are bolted to the engine and transmission. The only other support for the exhaust is the rubber bushing & hanger for the mufflers, which allow the mufflers to move quite a bit.

Ok so pretty much like the sportster, except for the mufflers, of course, just more to hang from.

Here you can see the S&S crossover pipe bolted to the bottom of the transmission on my Ultra.Other than the flanges on the heads, this is the only solid attachment to the engine and transmission .

I was going to do it to my sporty but scrapped the idea.
You post this video, but still think the header and crossover are supported by the frame??? See my pic above. you cannot mount pipes to the engine and the frame on a rubber mounted engine.

Perfect picture. Too bad the sporty has the master cyl right there. I think this is doable, but would take a LOT of work.

I have seen how HD did it years ago, saw one at a dealership, but it looked like a dumb design to me. The touring bike routing is the most sensible way to do it, and relocating the master cyl, is the key.

My current plan is one year to get a touring bike. If I keep the sporty I doubt I would do it, why have two touring bikes? The reason I would do it, is if I do NOT get a touring model, then this would be my mini touring. Lol a 1200cc mini. Boy have times changed. In my youth my 450 was big.
