If you have the security system, you could always just replace the Ignition swtich with a pushbutton switch,
or even a switch from a softail for "keyless" operation. As mentioned, this is NOT recommended for
applications that do not have the Security System since anyone could just start up & ride off with
your bike.

Depending on design, powder graphite will work thru dropping on the dialectical silcon grease on the contacts. This will lead to small power drains. Older verticle key holes do that. Not sure about yours. They say in manual like in post 6.
Problem here on brand new is small burrs left by maching process. Nothing to do with lubrication
