Default Air Cleaner Upgrade

Hello I知 new to the forum and also to motorcycles. I recently purchased an 06 1200. I知 wanting to upgrade the air cleaner to the Arlen Ness Monster Sucker. Will I need to tune or rejet the bike to make that upgrade? Thanks.

No. But if you end up adding after market exhaust you may need/want a tune.

I believe it may already have an aftermarket exhaust. How can I tell if it would need rejetted?

You should be able to read the spark plugs. If they are a nice dark tan or light brown, should be good. Lighter than that means lean condition and darker, like black means too rich.

So put the bigger air cleaner on and run it then I can check the plugs? Just don稚 want to mess the bike up by putting the bigger one on.

Yep. Take it for a 20 mile ride or so. That short will not hurt anything if it is too lean. Take a look at your plugs to start and then you will have a base to compare to.

Before you buy that read about external breather venting on DK's web site, the Monster Sucker routs the blow by back into the engine which is not good.

get something like a 425, that 636 gets real hard on the eyes after a while, personally I went with the polished 3" v stack
