Default Finally jump back in the game and bought a Sportster

I've been out of riding since college which was a long time ago..... I took a basic motorcycle course to get me back on my feet and it was well worth the time. This is a 06 883with less than 3500 miles on it. I picked it up for $3,000 and it is like brand new. Service by local guy that has a great reputation.

06 883
The salesman from the Harley dealer called me trying to sell me a new one and came up with every reason in the world why should not purchase this bike. It's too old, it's too expensive, low miles can be a problem and I should be suspect of it's mechanical condition. I won't have peace of mind like buying a used one from them. Blah blah blah. I think this will do me just fine for a while. If I decide to move up I doubt I will get burned much at this price...... I'm back

Welcome to HDF. Nice bike. The saddlebags look awful close to your pipes. How much clearance do you have?

The clearance is not as bad as it appears in the picture. There are metal spacers behind the bags mounted to keep the bags away from the wheel

Welcome,

Looks like it has a Sundower seat and the Classic 4.5 gal tank on it. Should be a nice ride and capable of putting in some serious miles.

If you ever get tired of the 883 and want more power, instead of trading up it's not that expensive to put a set of 1200 jugs and pistons in it, rejet the carbs and enjoy more power.

3 grand is too expensive for an 06 with 3500 miles? What's that bike in that condition generally go for?
