Default Brake line length for 10" zbars?

Hi guys, just installed new 10" bars on my 2016 iron. Measuring for new brake line, my stock line was 36". I placed the line at the stock attachment point and measured to the master cylinder and it looks like +6". From what I had read before I thought I was going to need a much longer cable, closer to 48-50".Just wanted to confirm I'm measuring correctly. Thanks

I would look up the rise/height if your stock/current bars and then subtract that from 10". The difference will be the "+" that you want. I would add an extra inch or two if your bars are particularly wider than the stock bars.

Check with Magnum Shielding. They have always been extremely helpful for me.

Thanks. After measuring like a mad man I decided to go with the magnum build your own kit. I measured my stock cable and it was 36"...every website said it was 40". The easiest way I found was to use the stock cable and hold it where it attached to the forks, run it up towards the master, and measure the distance it was short. In my case it was 6". I could have bought a cable 42", but I wasnt convinced, lol. I'll let you guys know how I make out.

Good luck!

Let us know how it goes. Better to have the cables too long than too short.

I bought a +4" for my nightster with 10" Z's and it's a little long. not crazy but def couldve gone shorter. i think the listed length was 45 & 3/4". Doesnt look bad with how i routed the slack but next time i would go shorter.

So the magnum byo brake kit came in...I split it up and bought the line and banjo fittings separate, went with 35 degree on both ends. It was easy to cut and assemble. Wound up with 43". Hardest part was bleeding the line...pumping the lever and opening the bleeder didnt work, taking the caliper off and holding it above the master didnt work. So after 2-3 hours if that I went on amazon and ordered a large syringe. The back bleed method was almost too easy. Pushing the fluid from the caliper to the master worked flawlessly...hard lever immediately. Thanks to everyone that responded, and hopefully this thread can help someone else down the road.
