Hey yall, second post I'm putting out and again trying to follow the forums as best I can. Now that said i saw in the How to videos that Neftali Medina wrote an article on how to reset the ECM to the factory setting in order to clear any tunes or funk done by the previous owner. I am (I hope) the second owner of a 2016 72 Sportster and i am burning 1 gallon per 20 miles. It looks all stock and was traded in at 680 miles original. clean title. Now before i start taking it into a shop and killing my pocket, i wanted to reset the ECM in the hopes someone got it, installed some stuff, wanted more and yanked the parts leaving the tune. The rich condition has been confirmed by me (I'm no expert but I owned an f-150 for years so i know about rich/lean conditions all too well). Bike runs with less shaking and slightly higher rpm with the air cleaner off. Plugs pulled and black as night, and finally, the bike did a whole 39 miles on two gallons before it dumped my *** in the middle of the street at 4 am (two-mile push to get gas) no idiot light. Now I've spoken to some of the more willing HD service guys and they said since the Gaslight is not functional, they would look at the sending unit, gas pump since the rest of the cluster and gauge works well. one guy mentioned maybe a dead ECM, which i dont think so, no Decel pops or odd stuff other than no gas mileage. so please if you happen to know the ECM reset Nintendo code, pass it on. any advice or things to check please let me know. I appreciate all advice.
