Default High Milage Tires For Sportster?

Greetings Gentlemen

I apologize if the answer to this is somewhere else, but I didn't find it. I'm having trouble getting decent milage out of tires on my wifes Sportster. The original Michelin rear only lasted 5000. The Dunlop "Roadsmart 3" replacement only has 3000 on it, and getting ready to change. Who's having better luck than that, and what tire and milage.

Thanks

Stick with what you have or you are going to be singing the song.."Slip Sliding Away.". Slow down. Keep them at the owner's manual pressure. At 3000, you must be visiting the local Wednesday night drag race track.

I got 19,000 out of the stock Michelin Scorcher 31s on my XL1200C.

I have about 15,000 on the Michelin Commander IIs and they will probably still get another 5000+

You might also look at the Dunlop American Elites. (Made in the USA)

What is available may be different for your year and model.

Make sure the rear wheel is properly aligned. If it's off even slightly, it will wear out the tire prematurely.

After getting tired of spending $$$ regularly to replace tires on my Sporty I put Michelin Commander II's on. I'm getting a lot more miles on them than I ever did with the HD tires.

I changed the rear Scorcher 11 at 10,200 miles on my SuperLow, might have had a thousand or two left in it. Guess I'm lucky...

Same here. 19,000 miles (30,500 kms) is when I changed mine.

Scorchers seem to be the only tyres that seem to go past 10k...

My original and replacement Dunlops were gone at 10,000 miles, front & rear.
Changed to Kena Cruz and got 15,000.
I have a 160 on the rear and a 110 on the front now.
They just go on, no spacers or mods required.
The 160 has more tread depth than the 150's and while the front is about gone, the rear still looks great.
The 160 is taller so the bike leans more on the stand. This makes it easier to get my leg over, but I have to jerk harder to get it upright.
The 160 is a little wider so there is more radius at the road. You notice an immediate change in cornering, it is easier.

Do you take the first 100 or so miles gently to allow the tyres to settle in?
