There is a wire that plugs into the top of my friends air cleaner on his stock air cleaner and it has shorted some where and is constantly humming. Is it a cali model bike and can it be unplugged without any adverse effects?

 

Find the short and sort that out first! If you unplug that wire there is no certainty that it will stop the hum and it may still give problems.
