Battery Question

I have a 2014 Superlow 1200T. I loaned my battery to a buddy to help him out...When I got the battery back the little thing that the bolt attached to inside the terminal to allow you to tighten the cables down is missing.....does anybody know where one of these can be found?

The screw is M6 with a 10mm AF head. Inside the terminal will be a square M6 nut.

Try a good hardware shop or google square M6 nut.

Again try Ace Hardware you'll be surprised with the stuff you can find there.

If there's any kind of motorcycle dealer near you, they should have some old replaced batteries that could have those nuts left in them, not doing them any good, might give you one. I keep a few from my old batteries, just in case.

Yep, learned the hard way how easy they are to lose.

Thats a good idea. Will do that one when I replace current battery.

A good way to retain those 10mm nuts inside the battery terminal blocks is to cut a short piece of 1/8 plastic tubing and insert it behind the nut before threading in the bolt that goes through the terminal. It's soft enough to retain the nut, but compress when the bolt hits it. Cheers!

Another way to go is cut head off a 6mm bolt, put it in the battery post hole and slide a nut in there with blue loctite. Won't ever have to worry about looking for that nut again and you don't have to pull out the bolt everytime you want to add accessories, battery tender, etc. Just have to take the nut off. I use a nylok to keep the wire ring terminals tight on the post.
