Get the longer damper tubes. If it was me, I would buy a new seal kit and upgrade to a better standard length spring.

Ok measured mine and there is only 4" so IF it went to 5.5" that would be super. That price is about what I am seeing as well. Good.

I am guessing I ought to look into progressive springs. I assume it should be ones for the 1200R and not the low?

I will be ordering the damper tubes in a couple weeks, but the springs might have to wait. If so I might delay the install. Does the fork oil HAVE to be removed, if say, I had already installed the dampers, and came back later with the progressive springs? Just based on the few videos I have seen I cannot tell. I see the springs come out the top, but not sure if they are connected inside, or just dropped in.

So I WOULD still order std length springs? Are all factory springs the same length? I was checking one website about the springs, and the same ones fit the R and the L.

Yes just the standard length, not the lowered. You can remove the springs from the top later, the only oil you would lose is what is on the spring, which isnt much. You will probably need to remove your bars, just lay a blanket on your tank and remove the bar clamp then lay them back onto the blanket out of the way.

Was not doubting ya, just learning. Seems odd to me to LIMIT suspension travel on purpose. Never been a fan of lowered cars or bikes, BUT being vertically challenged means I don't so well with a 34-35" seat height either.

One other question. Have seen recommendations for 5- 10-15 weight fork oil. I know heavier oil will dampen the movement, from experience with lever shocks on a TR6 I once owned, any suggestions?

How heavy are you?

And I'm pretty sure 5 wt fork oil is too light unless it's with intiminators.
