Hey Don, your best source for these types of questions would be Hammers website or giving them a call. They’re super helpful and will help guide you the right way. i have the same kit, it’s awesome. You’re going to love it!

I was looking into converting a 2007 883 Fuel Injected to 1200, and read somewhere, that it is best to change out the cam while doing the conversion. You're supposed to get better performance. Has anyone else heard of this?

Changing the cams = better performance , but not necessarily to do the conversion.

Not many cams available for 883 heads with out head work. Or go to 1200 heads.

Default Cams and Hammer Kit

Depends on what you want. Your stock cams I believe, are W grind cams. They are pretty much the best cam for down low grunt. If you want more top end power, then you can change them out, but you lose some down low grunt. It's all in your riding style and needs. Just going to 1250-75 doubles the power of an 883. I will vouch for Hammer Performance as well. I installed a 1250 kit this past winter. No issues with any of their parts. Great response times with questions. Cheers
