First of all, welcome to the forum !

It is not uncommon with a new bike, and @SluggoMagoo glad you sorted that out but what does an M8 have to do with a Sportster

I like to find neutral while the bike is still in motion, as when approaching a stop sign. As was said here, after a little practice, you may become more proficient at finding it. Good luck.

Someone else mentioned that if the trans fluid is low you may have trouble finding neutral; I'd like to add that when I did my first fluid change and went to a synthetic oil in the primary it got much easier to find neutral as well. So if it's not low and you haven't changed the oil in the primary yet, going to synthetic may make neutral easier to find.

is that normal on brand new motorcycles or its just me who needs more practice?
I have a 2019 48 and mine was also hard. I rode it 1,000 miles and changed the oil and trans / primary fluid and now at 2,700 miles it’s as easy as any other bike.

I found my 17 custom a little notchy for the first 500 miles then it got easier as the miles went on, But I did find after swapping out that formula + syrup to Mobil 1 20-50 it shifts like a jap bike.
